Yet another good staycation place at the all new Sofitel Singapore City Centre, right at train door steps! | Vacation Tips

AccorHotels has just recently opened the Sofitel’s flagship property in Singapore – Sofitel Singapore City Centre. The hotel is located in Tanjong Pagar, and it is just 20 minutes away from Changi Airport. This is AccorHotels’ 13th property in Singapore, with its opening set to be followed by the combined 782-room Novotel and Mercure complex on Stevens Road.

The brand new 223-room Sofitel Singapore City Centre is nestled amongst towering skyscrapers (including the tallest building in Singapore, Tanjong Pagar Centre, which stands at 290m) as well as historic shop-houses in the heart of Tanjong Pagar. It is also easily accessible via the MRT Station as it sits above the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station.

Designed by Lasvit, guests entering the Sofitel Singapore City Centre will be welcomed by the nine-metre chandelier, Singapour Je T’aime. The art installation comprises of 700 glass crystals that resembles glass leaves that whirl through the hotel lobby. Sofitel’s commitment to culture and design is brought to life with an outstanding collection of custom-made furniture and artworks including designer uniforms accentuated with floral prints, evoking the strong botanic theme that runs throughout the hotel.

Guests may choose from 223 well-appointed rooms and suites featuring floor to ceiling windows; complimentary minibars serviced by the hotel’s very own droid butler – Sophie The Robot; Sofitel’s luxurious MyBed; a Handy Phone which provides access to free local and international calls to 10 countries and wifi on the go; Smart TVs and Bose Sound systems; large soaking tubs with separate rain showers and luxurious Lanvin or Hermes amenities.

To further spoil the hotel residents with splendid food, Racines – the French themed restaurant in the hotel in spacious setting coupled with full glass panes around the restaurant. Racines showcases its French and Asian influences, offering both French and Chinese cuisines. Veteran French chef Jean-Charles Dubois (previously of The French Kitchen and Balzac Brasserie) helms the kitchen, and aims to use as many ingredients from local farmers and producers as possible. The sprawling, sun-drenched space is also absolutely stunning.

There is a nice dose of natural lighting in the day, with splendid views of the Tanjong Pagar district including the iconic Pinnacle at Duxton. The interior design is contemporary chic, with plenty of cosy and comfy sofa seats. The open kitchen concept also adds to the interactive dining experience.

In addition to its own SoFit gym, Club floor guests can enjoy access to the adjacent Virgin Active Fitness Club – Tanjong Pagar which will offer a range of wellness programs. A specially-designed In-Room Fitness Kit complemented with a series of workout videos is available in all rooms and guests can also enjoy the 30m infinity pool and spacious Lawn for rejuvenating morning yoga.
