Royal Caribbean – Voyager of The Seas | Experience Onboard the Cruise & Quick Guide | Excursion & Holiday Tour

During the 1st week of my kid’s school vacation, we managed to book a holiday vacation onboard a cruise ship – Royal Caribbean (Voyager of The Seas). Though this is not the first time for us onboard a cruise ship, Royal Caribbean has managed to rekindle the fun and enjoyment much better than those offered by the other cruise companies.

Royal Caribbean offers a variety of cruise routes, but we went on the ‘Isles of Southeast Asia‘ which lasted for 5 days 4 nights.

For this trip, we are able to head to 2 shore excursions with reasonably priced packages. They have handled the shore disembarkation pretty systematically and we are off to the shore enjoyment within 40 mins once we set forth from the ship.

Of course, the key attractions are the amenities and activities onboard the ship. In fact, we are privilege to hop onboard this massive ship when she made her debut in Asia for the first time in Singapore when the new Marina Bay Cruise Centre is launched during Q1 2012.

Of key mentions, the 138K tonnage 1020ft ship houses several remarkable facilities:

a. Full Size Sports court (Football, basketball and Volleyball court)
b. Ice-skating rink (For performance and a free skating activity for one of the days)
c. 3 Tier classy dining room
d. Optional themed restaurants – Johnny Rockets, Portofino Italian Restaurant
e. Dreamworks Characters (Parades, Photo taking, Dining with the Characters, Movies etc)
f. Children Care centres – Adventure Ocean (Children supervised for the whole day while the adults enjoy their own moments onboard)
g. Casino Royale – Vegas Style with 274 slots and 16 tables
h. Outdoor action – Rock climbing, Mini fun golf course, Jogging tracks

For the trip, we have stayed in the Ocean VIew Stateroom with Balcony and would recommend those with family to opt for this minimum configuration. For those who wish to have more leg area or a larger sitting area, you can opt for the suite rooms. Having a sufficient room area is important to ensure a good resting area after a long day of activities especially during the day with a shore excursion. Having a personalized stateroom attendant is also a bonus who is just a call away whenever you need any customized service or help.

Compared to some of the more mainstream cruise operators in Singapore, Royal Caribbean has definitely win the worthiness of providing top service onboard. The key differentiator is the numerous professional shows onboard which are already part of the paid package.

The kids will also love the numerous opportunities to interact with the Dreamworks characters and take home the memories with them.

Throughout the journey, we are able to enjoy the splendid dinner in the 3 tier dinning room. Service is excellent from the waiters and waitresses assigned to us from the day one. Quality of the food was also splendid. For those planning for the trip, do remember to bring along one formal dressing outfit as one of the night is themed Fine Dining when one needs to attend in formal dressing.

Four nights filled with splendid activities were indeed short and we will definitely look forward for a longer trip with Royal Caribbean in our next vacation planning. Hopefully, the bigger cruises will sail by in the coming months in the region.
